12 Hours Of Commotion: How To Pull Off A Young Life Overnighter

April 6, 2012

Chris Neal, a Young Life leader in Newburgh, IN recently shared details about how they pulled off a successful Young Life overnight event they called “Commotion.” Thanks for sharing Chris!

“It was an overnight. Started at 8pm and ended at 8am. We kept where we were going as a secret.

First we went to metro (an indoor sports complex). We played field games there on the field and had a YL club.

Then we went bowling.

At 2am we went to Ihop. They gave us a deal for $5/kid with eggs bacon and unlimited pancakes. This was awesome!

Then we went to a church gym and had another club. Then people hung out, we had basketball, inflatables, frisbees and other stuff. Then donuts in the morning.

Anyways, we only thought 70 people would come. God did some crazy stuff and 200 kids signed up. This was what made it so crazy. We had to cut the sign ups off because bowling and stuff was overbooked.

The main thing is though that the night wasn’t that special. Nobody came because of where we were going or what we were doing, kids signed up because their friends were going. We had an awesome group of campaigner students stepping up and inviting there friends.

God did insane stuff, seriously. The night was covered in prayer and things went supernaturally smooth. Here’s a video of the evening.”
