Spaghetti and Marshmallow Tower

Drew Hill January 31, 2020

The Spaghetti and Marshmallow Tower is a classic game that you may well have played yourself! It would be a great game to play with your WyldLife kids, but if you sell it well, it can be fun for high school and college as well!

To make it happen, split your group into as many teams as you have supplies (keeping around 3-4 folks in a group).

Provide each group with the same amount of uncooked spaghetti and marshmallows. You can also give them a 12-inch piece of masking tape and 2 ft of string.

Teams are tasked to use their supplies to build the tallest freestanding tower they can (meaning that holding the tower up with your hands is against the rules) with at least 1 single marshmallow on top of the tower.

Give the groups a certain time limit during which they can construct their tower – anywhere from 5-10 minutes generally works well – and give them a one-minute warning before their time is up.

The winning team is the one with the tallest freestanding tower, as measured by the game leader. (Bring a tape measure or measuring stick).

Break any ties by having the teams move their tower across the room and measuring again, not allowing them to fix any breakages.

Don’t let teams use the spaghetti box or marshmallow bag or anything else in their structure.

Think through a fun prize to give the winners.

Maybe a box of S’mores flavored cookies.
